"Tempo, Timing, and Touch in Hymns and Other Service Music"
While most service playing workshops focus on how to create elaborate and florid hymn introductions or reharmonizations, sometimes church musicians forget the basic elements of good service playing: providing a rock solid foundation of sound which can encourage and support communal singing. This workshop will review basic concepts of tempo, timing, and touch as crucially important factors in providing effective accompaniments of various sacred music genres including hymns, plainsong, and Anglican chant.
